Could hydrogen be a solution to blackout-hit in South Africa ?

South Africa’s dependence on fossil fuels has become a big issue for the country. With blackouts, energy shortages and high tariffs, it is time for alternative. Researchers at the university’s Hydrogen South Africa (HySA) Systems Centre of Competence have been focusing on hydrogen. This infinitely renewable fuel produces no emissions apart from water and heat and may help with the global quest to cut reliance on fossil fuels.
